The ExoWorlds Imaging Group at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg is recruiting a fully funded PhD candidate to conduct research in exoplanet detection and characterization, with a flexible start date from September 2026.
The project is declined into two strategic lines of research:
1/ The analysis of infrared spectra from the JWST instruments NIRSpec and MIRI of young planetary-mass companions with known infrared excess. This analysis will combine data from granted observing programs and archival observations
2/ The study of the detection and characterization capabilities of the upcoming spectro-imager mode of METIS at the ELT for exoplanets
